Hill Top (November 2025)

Greetings from Hilltop!

Year 4 have launched into adventure mode and the excitement is sky-high! This afternoon, the children have been stacking crates and tackling the climbing wall, showing incredible teamwork and courage as they stepped beyond their comfort zones.

During crate stacking, the challenge was on! Each child took turns climbing the towering stack, building it up, and even taking on the role of belayer, responsibly managing the safety rope for their partner. Working in pairs, they showed fantastic cooperation and determination. Nearly everyone reached the top and rang the bell, and the sense of achievement was electric!

Then came the climbing wall, which had two sides, one with plenty of holds and another that was completely vertical for those ready to take on the ultimate challenge. Some children were brave enough to tackle this tougher side. The children persevered when the climb got tricky, and some children managed to climb higher than they ever thought possible! With cheers and encouragement echoing around the wall, every climber gave it their all. The courage and support on display were truly inspiring.

After a quick chill-out in the games room, the next adventure began, our very first meal in the canteen! And wow, it was a feast to remember! We were treated to a mountain of golden fish and crispy chips, with a splash of peas and a fresh salad on the side. Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, out came dessert: rich, gooey chocolate cake smothered in silky custard. Absolutely delicious, yum, yum!

After a hearty dinner, the adventure continued! The children bundled up and headed out for a magical woodland walk under the starry night sky. The stars sparkled like diamonds, and the only sound breaking the stillness was the squawk of a very grumpy pheasant! Deep in the mysterious, shadowy woods, we stumbled upon a glowing campfire. The children gathered around and gave it a name—Beanary! What followed was an unforgettable evening of laughter, songs, and stories, sprinkled with some mind-boggling mind-reading tricks from the Hilltop leaders. And of course, no campfire is complete without gooey toasted marshmallows and steaming mugs of hot chocolate. The perfect ending to an absolutely fantastic first day,
